June 2016 Newsletter

We play friendly Rubber Bridge – ACOL system. We welcome all levels of bridge players except complete beginners.  It is quite different to many bridge clubs in that we do talk to each other about the game, discussing different bidding techniques or how we could have bid!!  – always in the friendliest manner and with no blame attached. If you enjoy bridge and want to improve and to meet similar minded bridge players do please come and join us. Weekly attendance is not essential, just join us on the days you are free.  We look forward to welcoming new members and if you would like further information, please contact me either by phone or email.  Pauline 0115 9283707 hpbright23@yahoo.co.uk

March 2014 Newsletter

The Bridge Club continues to enjoy weekly sessions of rubber bridge where members are trying to improve on their skills of ‘Acol’ bridge, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, but on those occasions the fault lies in the cards of course!!

It is quite different to many bridge clubs in that we do talk to each other about the game, discussing different bidding techniques or how we could have bid!! – always in the friendliest manner and with no blame attached. There are a number of more serious competitive clubs in the area, but if you enjoy bridge and want to improve and to meet similar minded bridge players do please come and join us.

We have a membership of 20+ who come with a partner or on their own and we make up tables of four on arrival. Now the winter weather approaches we tend to have around four tables weekly, some of our members do jet off to the sun for a few weeks occasionally – lucky them! Weekly attendance is not essential, just join us on the days you are free – though with the wide choice of U3A activities now available there are fewer and fewer of those days! We look forward to welcoming new members and if you would like further information, please contact me either by Phone or email. 01159283707 hpbright23@yahoo.co.uk

March 2012 Newsletter

The bridge group is an informal happy gathering of about 20 members and we meet at the CRMC on Mondays between 2pm and 4pm. We have two groups, one of which is a small group of improvers and the rest of the group play amongst themselves. We play the basic ACOL system but we are quite happy for people who use the Nottingham Club system to join us. There are no leagues, no pressure but an awful lot of laughter. We may have to stop in June, July and August because of holiday commitments, Olympics, etc as we need a minimum of 12 people to cover our costs. If anyone has a second hand bridge table which they are willing to donate or sell, I would be pleased to hear from them on 0115 8493034.

Bill, March 2012.
